My job is to capture memories, but I am most challenged when I am asked to preserve a memory for a parent while at the same time creating a memory for a child. When a family wants to incorporate a loved one who has passed away in their images, I always consider the request carefully. I want to convey all of the feelings of love, respect, admiration, and joy in the image itself, so that not only the older generation feels that memory surface, but so that brand new generation in the picture can look back at the picture one day and feel a connection with the person who, if they had the chance, would love them to the moon and back. The two images at the end honor this new mother's father, who was never able to meet his granddaughter. He shared a special bond with his daughter through the unique sport of drag-racing, and she someday hopes to continue this love and legacy with her daughter (and sons), just as she knows her father would.
