Hi There! Thanks for stopping by---really, I appreciate you taking a couple minutes out of your day to get to know me!
My Personal Background
I grew up as a Air Force Brat across several states (and continents) before my family settled in the tidewater area of VA (Yorktown to be exact). I attended James Madison University (Go Duuuukes!) and graduated with a degree in Biology in 2008, then went on to get married to my college sweetheart, the love of my life 2 months after graduating. Because I'm a GLUTTON for punishment, I MARRIED into the AirForce and went from Military brat to Military Wife--and if that wasn't enough we moved to the frigid north, North Dakota (that would be the Dakota without Mt Rushmore. yes, its freezing and it's pretty much Cananda) where I earned my Master's Degree in Microbiology/Immunology at the University of North Dakota. I used my stipend and salary from my studies to buy my first Digital SLR and I've been hooked ever since--I loved science, but it turns out I love the art and beauty of photographing people even more! From there we moved to GA where we were blessed with a son Birthdate (11/11/11), the second love of my life, and then we moved back to VA where we were surprised with another little love, my sweet heartbeat, our daughter (Birthdate 12/13/14-- seriously, I can't make this stuff up).
My Photography Background
I worked briefly at Sears Portrait studio, but the majority of my skills I've aquired by standing on the shoulders of my photography crushes, my inspirations (Ansel Adams, Sandy Puc, Skye Hardwick, Kelly Brown, just to name a few). And I've been blessed with many mentors along the way. After 5 years in the business photographing everything from models and architecture to corporate headshots and families, I decided that the heart and soul of my business, the sessions that made me smile from ear to ear through every process were the newborn and baby sessions.
In 2015 I made the decision to specialize exclusively in the ages and stages from maternity to the very first birthday. T
here is something about the 'newness' at every stage during a baby's first year that captivates me, motivates me, and leaves me humbled and in awe at every new life. I never take for granted each family's willingness an excitement to involve me in one of the most precious times of their lives.
I joke that if I can make a mom or dad cry, I've done my job, because tears of love and joy and pride for the beginning of the journey of raising a child are to me the most beautiful thing. My job is to capture those feelings in beautiful photographic art.
