Happy 2 Year Anniversary, New Vision Images!

New Vision Images has officially hit the 2 year mark! Although things have been challenging, moving this business through two states, three towns (and possibly another in the not-so-distant future), and a pregnancy and newborn, I have to give all glory to God that we have come this far, and I have to lean on him and trust him every day through every trial, disappointment, and worry.   On top of this, I can honestly say that I love my job.  My line of work can practically be defined as bringing joy to families through art!  I know that not many people can say that, and I am grateful for every day I am allowed to pursue this dream, along with my husband as my business partner, backing me 100%.   However, only about 10% of my on-the-job time is spent behind the camera while the other 90% is spent studying, financing, researching, learning, networking, updating, editing, and practicing.  Of all of those additional tasks that go along with pure talent, I think my favorite would have to be networking.  I have met some of the most interesting and wonderful people in the 5 months I have been able to actively engage in this particular branch of business.  I want to share one of these new friends with you in this blog.

You see, my husband and I live on a street called Dora Ln--and I never gave much thought to it (other than to help people remember our street by thinking of Dora the Explorer).  The other day I met a women who's beautiful property and garden I had been eying for a while, but had been too nervous to ask about.  I finally worked up the nerve, and I now use it to photograph some of my little clients.  I was cautious, as always, when asking for a favor, but as I started talking with this 87 year old woman who was out working in her garden at the time, she began to tell me of her family: her late husband, her grand children, her great grand children (of which she has l1) and a sense of wonder overcame me as I imagined the things she has seen in her lifetime, compared to my short 25 years of life.  Her name was Dora--and it took me a second to realize that she is THE Dora, my street was named after her! and my sub-division after her husband, William!  She watched as each plot of land was sold to individual families, and saw many family come and go.  We chatted for quite sometime, and I was amazed at the things she recalled to me, from years before even my parents were born.  I have been back to visit several times since then, and I will continue to visit Mrs. Dora, not because I feel obligated because I am using her land, but because I see the potential for a beautiful friendship.  In talking to Dora, and my grandmother in CA, I realize that they are our only first account connection to the past, and a simple conversation can feel like they have taken you back in time...and those who do not know their history are doomed to repeat it....

VERSE OF THE DAY
Job 32:7 “Age should speak; advanced years should teach wisdom.”

In other news... MY BABY CAN SIT UP!!! (for about 10 seconds)  Of course I have to post a picture!!
